Nigerian-born Washington, D.C. emcee FlyG returns with his tenth EP. SPCL_CHRCTRS properly introduced himself to the underworld a few years ago with his debut feature Soulful Journey and went into full production on his next Serenade Symphony at the end of February last year, while a few months later rising French producer Drega33 helped him gain even more attention with MENBLVCK. MENBLVCK II follows on Black Friday, reuniting Drega so they can finally drop MENBLVCK III from Soundscape Cinema and FlyBlackmanExperience respectively.
“Du$ty Roads” features 3-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, NWA National Heavyweight Champion, WWE Hall of Famer, WWE United States Champion, 2-time WCW World Tag Team Champion and 3-time WCW World Television Champion Dusty Rhodes in style Pay tribute, and the style of “FT$ho” this time shows a soulful way, showing his style through a kind of soulfulness, while “FT$ho” shows a feeling through a more soulful game.
We get more soul samples on “B@rry Bonds at Luger $teaks,” recalling a dining experience where they screwed up his order and he had to give them his business card, before moving into “Luxurious Abilitie$,” embracing a drumless vibe and talking again about how he knows the road to success is narrow. After an interlude, “Eye$ Closed” turns the second half of the EP into a more soulful discussion of how much times have changed.
“MENNBCVCK” approaches the trilogy finale on “Bro@dway,” taking a soulful, drums-less approach to talk about the plethora of free agents who have laid out their blueprints, while “Keep Tryin'” discusses how easy it is for him to master a pen while a lover gives him a hard time even while he’s doing the dishes. “$un MediationMethods” ends MENNBCK’s difficulties with a drum-less closing trick.
I have always considered both entries in the MENNBLVCK series to be among FlyG’s greatest works, and thankfully he has been confirmed that the series will continue as he plans to drop MENNBLVCK 4EVER sometime in the second half of 2026, as MENNBLVCK III inherits all the satisfying aspects of its predecessor, from the soulful production of Drega3.
Score: 8/10
