YG Marley surprised fans by inviting his mother Lauryn Hill and several other heavyweight singers during her Coachella performance.
Concertgoers on the Coachella main stage were treated to a special appearance from the iconic singer and rapper on Sunday afternoon (April 14), who performed a medley of her hits, including “Ex-Factor” and classic songs like “Lost Ones.”
She also performed on the mini-Fugees reunion’s “Fu-Gee-La” and “Killing Me Softly” with Wyclef Jean, excluding member Pras.
Despite Plath’s disappearance, Hill’s son stepped up and sang the lyrics to “Ready Or Not.” “When you put YG Marley and The Fugees together, this is what it sounds like,” Wyclef told the audience.
YG Marley will also be releasing more content featuring Busta Rhymes and his long-time right-hand man Spliff Star. Busta rocked the crowd with βPut Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See,β which opens with some of his most popular songs.
The band paid tribute to YG’s legendary grandfather, Bob Marley, performing some of his hits, including “One Love.”
Later in the show, YG Marley debuted his first single, “Praise Jah in the Moonlight,” which was co-written by Lauryn Hill and sampled Bob Marley & the Wailers’ 1978 song “Crisis.”
He debuted the song during his mother’s 2023 tour, celebrating the 25th anniversary of her mother’s 1998 debut solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The song was a hit and YG Marley released it on DSP in December.
