French Montana wants to help a taxi driver whose car appeared to be destroyed by fans celebrating the Knicks’ NBA championship.
Fans flooded the streets of New York City on Saturday night (June 13) after the Knicks won their first NBA Finals title in 53 years, sparking some crazy moments. A viral video from the celebrations showed fans running past a taxi that had been blocked by rioters. The driver looked helpless as six overzealous Knicks fans stood on the roof of his cab.
French Montana caught wind of the incident and retweeted the video, hoping to find the man and help him.
“Someone help me find him so we can help him get back on his feet,” French wrote on Twitter.
The atmosphere in the streets became busy as thousands of fans celebrated the Knicks’ first championship, many of whom had been fighting for it. Following the victory, a teenager was shot to death, four people were stabbed, and five buses were set on fire, according to People magazine. The New York City Police Department reportedly arrested 63 people.
The hip-hop world erupted on social media with reactions from rappers like 50 Cent, Fat Joe, French Montana, Jim Jones, Raekwon, Ben Reilly and more celebrating the Knicks bringing the Larry O’Brien Trophy back to New York.
