Colorado State quarterback Shedeur Sanders has made another foray into pop culture with a hip-hop song featuring him singing and rapping titled “Perfect Timing.” Song art shows Sanders flashing a watch on his wrist during pregame warmups.
It’s the latest foray into media and marketing in Sanders’ growing and scrutinized efforts in Colorado. Sanders apparently first shared/teased the combination in a TikTok on September 17, 2023.
He also tweeted about when he should release the song in December 2023.
The lyrics often flow in a prosaic cadence, often mixing luxury cars (Mercedes Maybach), watches and jewelry (“AP” or Audemars Piguet) and money-making crafts.
Sanders came into the news late
Following Sanders’ tweet in late April, the Colorado quarterback’s odds of becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft dropped.
Sanders recalled defensive back Xavier Smith, who left before the 2023 season. This comes after The Athletic reported on the departure of Colorado State players following the arrival of Deion Sanders.
According to DraftKings, since the tweet was viewed quite negatively on social media, his odds of ranking first overall dropped to +100. His odds of being the No. 1 pick next year have dropped to +300. Still, he has the least chance of becoming the No. 1 pick in the draft.
He was ahead of other quarterbacks such as Carson Baker (Georgia) and Quinn Ewers (Texas).
So what was the reason for Sanders’ tweet this week? Smith claimed head coach Deion Sanders could show more compassion when shuffling the roster.
Whether it’s cutting players outright or encouraging them to enter the transfer portal, Smith feels he hasn’t been given a fair chance.
Shaddell Sanders responded after seeing the quote in The Athletic’s image on social media.
“(Honestly) (I) don’t even remember him,” Sanders wrote on Twitter. “Brother is average at best.”
Sanders performed well in 11 games last season despite suffering more than 50 hits and sacks in the fall. He had 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, three interceptions and a 69.3 percent completion rate.
As a member of the Class of 2021, Sanders was a three-star recruit from Cedar Hill (Texas) Trinity Christian School, according to On3 industry rankings, which utilizes a weighted average of all four major recruiting media companies. When he committed to Jackson State, he was the No. 60 prospect in the state, the No. 33 quarterback in the class, and the No. 411 prospect in the state.
