Black Heritage Day is a cornerstone of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and this year, the city will celebrate more than just the city’s rich cultural heritage. This year, Bun B’s birthday bash will be the centerpiece of events featuring the likes of Post Malone, Brooks & Dunn and Luke Bryan
As of press time, there’s no word on who Trill OG will invite to the stage, but last year he brought out legends like Drake, Rick Ross, Nelly, Eve and rising local star That Mexican OT.
Bun B, who turns 52 on March 19, will take the stage on Friday (March 7) and is expected to be the highlight of the month-long celebrations.
The concert was his fourth consecutive rodeo appearance, following the H-Town Takeover, Southern Takeover and All-American Takeover.
“Houston is home,” Bun B told ESSENCE. “This show isn’t just about me, it’s about the city, the culture and the people who make this city special.”
The show is expected to be a high-energy celebration with a number of top special guests. The set list and guest list are expected to be available in the coming weeks.
Bun B continues to make significant contributions to the hip-hop community. Most recently, he collaborated with Run-DMC’s DMC on a song titled “Bun DMC” produced by Marco Polo.
In an interview with AllHipHop, Bun B expressed his admiration for DMC, saying, “It’s an honor to work with DMC, one of the founding members of this culture. This is someone I’ve looked up to for years and he’s the one who made me want to Become an MC.
In 2024, Bun B released a feature-rich project called YOKOZUNA TRILL. The album includes collaborations with artists such as Lil Keke, Jay Worthy and DJ RYOW.
In addition to music, Houston’s Bun B’s Trill Burgers also received high praise from Drake, calling it “the best burger I’ve ever had.”
