The highly anticipated grand opening of the Hip Hop Museum in Mott Haven, Bronx, has officially been pushed back to Spring 2027.
The full story: Despite the delay, construction is moving fast. CEO Rocky Bucano confirmed July 8, 2026 that the interior build-out is now 60% complete. The 52,000-sq-ft museum at Bronx Point will feature a two-story interactive atrium called “The Culture” and the 172-seat Dolby Digital Unity Theater.
Originally set for 2023 to mark hip-hop’s 50th, COVID pushed it to 2026. Now Spring 2027 is the target. Founded in 2015 by Bucano, Kurtis Blow, Grand Wizzard Theodore, Joe Conzo Jr. and Grandmaster Melle Mel, the museum sits two miles from 1520 Sedgwick Ave — hip-hop’s birthplace. Nas invested $1M in Dec 2025.
