Kanye West’s San Antonio concert is now in jeopardy as the city’s mayor joins officials across the country in asking him to stay away from taxpayer-funded venues.
Kanye West may no longer have a place to perform in the United States after the mayor of San Antonio joined the growing list of officials asking him to stay away from his city.
Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones made her position clear on social media, saying, “I support the cancellation of Ye’s concert. Military City USA should not be hosting individuals with a record of hate speech and anti-Semitic rhetoric in a city-owned facility like our Alamo Dome.”
I support canceling the @kanyewest concert.
Military City USA should not be hosting people with a record of hate speech and anti-Semitic rhetoric in a city-funded facility like the Alamodome — never, and certainly not on our nation’s 250th birthday, July 4th.
stand up…

The July 4 show at the Alamodome is now mired in months of nationwide backlash.
West added the San Antonio dates after losing his UK travel permit and being forced to cancel multiple European stops on his “Ye Live Concert Tour.”
Tickets for San Antonio are selling on Ticketmaster from $127.50 to more than $1,460 per ticket.
His comeback attempt began in Los Angeles back in April, when he played two sold-out shows at SoFi Stadium, and despite some initial pushback from community groups, there were no delays.
The momentum didn’t spread overseas. Italy, Poland, Switzerland and other European countries canceled his concerts, citing public safety concerns and anti-Semitic rhetoric.
The UK denied him entry outright, forcing him to shift his entire touring strategy towards US venues.
The situation escalated further in May when West performed in front of more than 118,000 fans at Istanbul’s Ataturk Olympic Stadium, with Turkey’s presidential adviser Oktay Saral criticizing the event after encouraging the large crowd to chant “I am God.”
West’s troubles stem from years of controversial comments, including selling ####### T-shirts and releasing a song called “Heil Hitler” that was pulled from streaming platforms.
In response, Adidas terminated his lucrative apparel partnerships.
In January 2026, he purchased a full-page apology in the Wall Street Journal, but it was not enough to convince international authorities to let him perform.
His history of anti-Semitism has been widely documented, and the resistance he now faces represents a coordinated effort at all levels of government to prevent him from performing at a taxpayer-funded facility.
The rapper played two shows in Tampa on June 26 and 28, and U.S. Sen. Rick Scott asked the Tampa Sports Authority to shut them down, calling the performances a slap in the face to the Jewish community.
Scott singled out West’s consistent anti-Semitic attacks as the reason he wanted that concert canceled.
