This week, 50 Cent turned downtown Shreveport into a construction site, making a huge impact on Louisiana’s entertainment landscape.
The rapper and entrepreneur orchestrated a groundbreaking ceremony at the future G-Dome site at Spring and Travis streets, marking the beginning of a reimagining of the area’s cultural infrastructure.
50 Cent is walking the talk and the whole city is witnessing it.
The G-Dome is the centerpiece of a massive $124 million entertainment empire that took four years to build.
The 30,000-square-foot spherical venue will be an immersive entertainment space with green areas and is part of a wider vision that includes G-Unit Studios, Stageworks renovations and modernization of Millennium Studios.
When asked about the trajectory, 50 Cent painted a picture that was hard to ignore.
“If we were talking five years now, what would downtown Shreveport look like?” he was asked. “You wouldn’t recognize it. Brand new,” he replied, the words carrying weight of confidence considering what had happened.
On the day of the groundbreaking ceremony, 50 Cent hosted a town hall at the Shreveport Convention Center to directly answer questions from residents about his business strategy and investment philosophy.
This is where things get interesting. When asked about his biggest investment, he didn’t hesitate to abandon the entertainment industry entirely.
“My biggest investment lately is artificial intelligence. I’m rich. I’m lucky, man. It’s really working.”
The G-Unit Studios project itself is positioned as the second largest black entertainment center in the United States, and the City Council unanimously approved a 45-year lease agreement.
The company has acquired 13 properties in the city center and will launch G-Unit Studios in April 2026, establishing its headquarters in the city.
For residents seeking opportunities, the company, in partnership with the City of Shreveport Community Development Department, is hosting a job registration event for positions in the film production and entertainment industry.
