Coi Leray pays homage to Janet Jackson in the music video for her latest single, giving her own fiery vibe.
On Friday (April 26), the 26-year-old rapper and singer released “Can’t Come Back” along with a music video that mimics the iconic visuals of Jackson’s 1986 hit “The Pleasure Principle.”
Leray’s single was produced by Melz & TrueBeatzz, and sees the New Jersey star dancing around warehouses in a similar fashion to his original form more than three decades ago. However, her dress and body language are very different from Jackson’s, given the contrasting music they dance to.

Coi Leray recently made it clear that she wants people to see her artistry, but she claims her former label has no intention of doing so.
The “Player” rapper reflected on her relationship with Republic Records during a livestream earlier this week, revealing that executives at the label have been urging her to be more like Taylor Swift.
“I’m no longer on Republic Records, I’m on the island [Records],” she began. “When I dropped ‘Blue Moon,’ ‘Republic’ — they wanted pop music. They wanted some Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande stuff that I can do, but I still like to work at my own pace and my own time, and I’m still developing and learning my own sound and things…
“They didn’t like ‘Blue Moon.’ I wouldn’t say they didn’t like it, but they felt like they didn’t want to put any money into it. So when I have to come out of my own pocket and put my own money into my own music, you Real life decisions have to be made.
She also reflected on how not everyone is a fan of “every carp in the pond,” referring to her versatility and her ability to sing, rap, and switch styles.
The 26-year-old found a new home in early 2024, where she immediately began working with Island Records.
Earlier this year, she announced a “mature and sexy” transformation called “Wanna Come Thru,” enhanced by Mike Will Made-It production.
“This song is about me growing up and being sexy,” she said in January. “Being mature and sexy means loving yourself deeply – it’s one of the sexiest, most mature, most growing things a woman can do [be]. As you get older, you develop your femininity and femininity, and I feel like you should embrace that.
“It’s about feeling good about yourself; look in the mirror and love yourself. 2024 will be my mature, sexy time. I take over this year. I have a lot of new music and a whole new side of me to get to know.”
