Metro Boomin and The Alchemist are bringing their beat-making skills to the basketball court, teaming up with Kevin Durant for their own Nike sneaker collaboration.
Metro’s shoe, aptly called the KD 17 “Metro Boomin,” pays homage to the producer’s hit album Heroes & Villains with an exciting purple-blue design.
The tongue also pays homage to his previous album, 2018’s Not All Heroes Wear Capes, and its bouncing humanoid silhouette, while the left heel features a purple “Leslie” signature in honor of Metro’s late mother.
Alchemist’s KD 17 “The Alchemist” features his ALC Records logo on the tongue and comes in a coconut milk colorway with atomic purple and super grape accents.
The unique kick comes from Durant’s “Producer Series,” highlighting his love for the sound architects behind culture. Producer Bink! (Kanye West’s “Devil in New Clothes”, JAY-Z’s “Blueprint”) also has his own shoes.
The Nike KD 17 will be available in the standard “Sunset” colorway on May 17th. The “Producer Series” styles are expected to launch in the coming months, with each model retailing for $160.

Although Kevin Durant is widely regarded as a hip-hop connoisseur, earlier this year he criticized Drake’s most recent record after naming it his favorite album of all time. It was pranked on the internet.
The Phoenix Suns shared a video montage on Instagram in which their players were asked to name a record that most personally resonated with them.
Players gave a variety of choices, with Bradley Beal choosing J. Cole’s “The Off Season” and Josh Okogie choosing Young Thug’s “The Off Season.” SLIME SEA2ON”, Damion Lee chose JAY-Z’s “Black Album” and “The Blueprint”.
However, KD responded: “My favorite album of all time is Drake’s “CLB” [Certified Lover Boy]”.
“CLB should be fined by the NBA for being your favorite album,” one person joked in an Instagram comment, while another added: “CLB isn’t even close to Drake’s best album. [four crying emojis]”.
One user further spoke of the two-time NBA champion, saying: “KD is never allowed to touch the secondary.”
The 2014 MVP has developed a close bond with Drizzy over the years, even earning A&R credits on his latest project, For All The Dogs.
During this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend, he expressed his unwavering support for the Canadian superstar, making it clear that he will be there for his friend whenever he needs it.
“Whenever Drake wanted to talk about life, I was there for him and he gave me this title,” he said of his A&R role.
