Jay-Z is in the news, launching the Jay-Z30 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his classic album “Reasonable Doubt.” Recently, the momentum started to build, and Jay started performing back and forth across the stage, launching into a freestyle to anyone who had a problem with him at the Roots Picnic event.
Among the many shots he fired with an iron bar, one was directed at Lance ‘Un’ Rivera, who was on the short end of the stick during a stabbing incident. Now, Rivera has chosen to respond to the hip-hop mogul in a rare and vulnerable interview setting, facilitated by the Art of Discussion podcast.
Rivera first shared the open letter, which is filled with gracious praise for Jay-Z and acknowledges his impact on the black community. Rivera praised Jay-Z’s ability to overcome struggles, hardships and self-improvement and reach high cultural and financial status.
However, at the end of the open letter, he also talked about the trauma he suffered from the incident in which he was clearly outnumbered and stabbed, and that he believed Jay-Z marketed the incident in order to appear tough in public. Rivera acknowledged that Jay-Z talked about trauma and healing, but stressed that he too was traumatized. Check out the clip below!
