Will Smith is being sued for sexual harassment and wrongful termination as a former touring fiddler.
According to NBC News, Brian King Joseph filed a lawsuit against the Philadelphia rapper in California Superior Court in Los Angeles on Tuesday (December 30). Joseph claimed that he was hired in November 2024 to play on Will’s “Based on a True Story” album and to participate in the “Based on a True Story: 2025” tour. However, according to the lawsuit, Joseph experienced “a series of traumatic events” while on tour with Weir in Vegas in March 2025.
Joseph claims Will’s team lost his bag, which contained his hotel keys. Joseph later discovered someone was in his room. He also found evidence of “violent sexual threats” and a note that read: “Brian, I will be back… just us.”
The musician also claimed he found other items that did not belong to him, including a bottle of HIV medication and discharge papers, and he feared an unknown person would return to his room to perform sex acts.
The lawsuit also alleges that Joseph was fired by a member of Weir’s management team days after the incident because he was humiliated and told he had made up the story. As a result, Joseph claimed he “suffered post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental illnesses as a result of the termination of the pregnancy.”
Will’s attorney, Alan B. Grodsky, strongly denied the accusations in a statement to PEOPLE.
“Mr. Joseph’s accusations against my client are false, baseless and reckless,” Grodsky’s statement read. “They are categorically denied and we will use all available legal means to resolve these allegations and ensure the truth comes out.”
Will Smith has yet to personally respond to these claims.
