Over the past few months, anyone who often listens to Wiz Khalifa carefully will know that he is working to eliminate music. A series of freestyles, mixes, not to mention the exquisite poems on J. Cole’s “Clouds” – it’s a great show of his next album.
Now, his latest track, “Billionaires,” is produced by legendary Williams, whose verses feature verses from Ty Dolla $ign.
The rapper is an unlikely duo, in an introspective sample, chopped the beats with minimalist drum programming, which is absolutely just when they talk about the road to success. Rappers pounded in a leisurely lethargic drowsiness, rappers glided on a luxurious sound bed made by conductor Williams to bring a sound that was both commercially delicious but niche.
The music video was shot in a bare-handed cam format and has a powerful glitter beauty that highlights the rapper in an otherwise dark room.
The result is a video that doesn’t work hard to cohese the music, Wiz talks about waking up at Balenciaga and being as luxurious as everyday. As they gather, smoke and weave amidst nostalgia of confidence, rappers become the highlight of the center, showing what will happen on their musical journey – and it’s far from over.
