Tory Lanez will release a 23-song double album this week, with the project split into separate rap and R&B discs with no guest features.
Tory Lanez continues to make music despite his incarceration, with the troubled artist announcing a new double album with a special proposition.
The forthcoming work, titled “Making You Think I’m Gone…But,” blends the two genres that have defined his career.
On Tuesday (July 14), Lanez revealed that the item is scheduled to arrive on Friday (July 17). This release will be split into two separate discs, the first focused entirely on rap and the second on R&B.
“To make you think I was gone…but 7.17 DISC 1: RAP DISC 2: R&B is now pre-saved. Link in BIO,” Lanez wrote while sharing the news on social media.
The album will contain a total of 23 songs. Disc one contains 11 songs and disc two contains 12 songs. According to the tracklist, the project will not include any guest appearances, making it entirely a solo effort.
The artwork and tracklist also include a cryptic statement that seems to reflect Lanez’s current state of mind.
“When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world,” the message read.
The news marks another chapter in Lanez’s unusually prolific prison output. Despite serving his sentence, he continued to release music recorded while incarcerated.
Earlier, Lanez launched his Prison Tapes series, providing listeners with music created behind bars. The operation was eventually halted after correctional officers confiscated recording equipment from his cell.
He followed that up with 2025’s Peterson, another album he produced while incarcerated. The project demonstrates Lanez’s determination to release new material despite his incarceration.
The upcoming double album appears to continue this strategy.
Lanez has long shifted between aggressive rap and melodic R&B-style records
Lanez made it clear that his recording career is not over.
To make you think I was gone…but I arrived on Friday, July 17th.
