Philadelphia’s largest free hip-hop festival returns on August 8, with DJs AKTIVE, Craig G and Truck North performing at Eakins Oval.
TAMEARTZ has secured touring DJ Janet Jackson to headline the sixth annual Hip-Hop In The Park festival at Eakins Oval this August.
The festival will take place on Saturday 8th August 2026 at Eakins Oval from 12pm to 9pm and entry is free with just a RSVP.
DJ AKTIVE is at the top of the list this year and his resume speaks for itself. The Philadelphia native has toured the world with Kanye West, Nas, Common, John Legend and Janet Jackson, serving as her official tour DJ.
He also serves as Patti LaBelle’s official touring DJ and can tell you all about his musical range.

This year’s lineup of MCs delves into the roots and legacy of hip-hop. Taking to the stage was Craig G of the legendary Juice Crew, the Queensbridge MC who appeared on Marley Marl’s 1988 classic Symphony.
Craig G also did behind-the-scenes writing work on the battle sequences in 8 Mile , a fact that doesn’t get enough credit.
He will be joined by Outerspace, Goody Gunz, KXNG Charisma and Elemxnt representing the Army of the Pharaohs, and Truck North from the Legendary Roots Crew.
The DJ line-up was active throughout the day and included Mike Nyce, DJ Too Tuff, Bear-One, JS1, Jayski and Nico Oso.
House Music Hour features legendary DJs Lee Jones and FLYGIRRL and is hosted by Ursula Rucker, a legend in the spoken word world.
Live graffiti murals pop up throughout the day, with artists traveling from Philadelphia, New York, Florida and beyond to paint the walls of Akins Oval.
Virginia-based One Take Studios is about to present a special dance show centered around hip-hop movement and choreography.
Venues include a Breakout Exhibition, No Phly Zone Three-Point Contest, Vendor Market, Food Trucks, and a Full Beer and Liquor Garden.
Hosted by SNIPES and supported by the Philadelphia 76ers, Flyers and Red Bulls, the support behind this festival shows the progress it has made.
TAMEARTZ is also one of Philadelphia’s most recognized muralists, and he founded the festival from the ground up.
According to the Philadelphia Tribune, Hip Hop in the Park has grown from a community fundraiser to one of the city’s signature free cultural events.
In his words, “Hip Hop in the Park is more than just a festival, it’s a celebration of our culture, our city and our community.”
