Rick Ross took a direct shot at 50 Cent, while T.I. added some fire and reignited the flames underneath the beef.
I want to clarify: I am not involved in the feud between 50 Cent, T.I., Rick Ross, and anyone else who decided to get involved. These guys will probably fight forever.
But selfishly, I love seeing artists step up.
Rick Ross and TI just released a new song called “Mahogany Caskets” and it’s a hit. The song comes as Ross prepares for the release of a new album next month. The project has experienced delays, and of course there have been jokes circulating online. Some have linked the postponement to Drake’s continued dominance on the charts.
Personally, I don’t think Rick Ross can avoid Drake’s commercial momentum right now. Whether you love him or hate him, this is Drake’s year from a chart perspective. Now, if we talk about pure technique, lyrics and artistry, that’s a completely different conversation. Everyone has their own taste in music.
Check out the song below.
Now let’s get to the rumors.
Rick Ross’s words immediately attracted people’s attention:
“Narcos, all I see is the war on drugs / Bulletproof trucks coming to the front door / Shooting all your stuff, f##k 50 cents / They’ll never go away, that’s true for a lot of people…”
Wow.
So are we really going there?
Then TI went on to say a line that made people doubt it was directed at someone:
“Send you to your mother like your father did…”
Maybe this is a place within reach. Maybe not. It’s a small lyric, but one with huge potential.
One thing is for sure: these people are at war. The difference is that they rap at an extremely high level while performing.
We already know that 50 Cent isn’t necessarily interested in trading gold bullion like some of these guys. He still performs and entertains audiences overseas while continuing to attract attention through social media and old records. But if that energy continues to build, I wouldn’t be surprised if he feels the need to respond in a more direct way.
That’s the fun of hip-hop.
When rappers actually rap, compete, and push each other creatively, everyone wins.
Honestly, it feels a lot more fun than endless Instagram posts. Just an opinion.
What do you think? Are Rick Ross and TI attacking 50 Cent, or are fans interpreting the lyrics too much?
By the way, here are 50 of them:
