SZA didn’t expect to be mentioned in Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s escalating feud, although she did react perfectly to the situation.
In a diss note directed at K.Dot and his team that leaked last week, Drizzy rapped that the SOS superstar was more deserving of a spot in the “Big Three” than her former Top Dawg Entertainment label mates.
“Pipsqueak, calm down/You don’t belong in the Big Three, SZA got you wiped out/Travis [Scott] Wipe you clean/[21] The savages wiped you out/Like your tag, kid, you’re in range now!
Shortly after the song started circulating online on Saturday (April 13), she posted a clip of NeNe Leakes from the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion on her Instagram Story, during which she asked, “Now why am I involved in this?” ?You see how I was thrown in? I didn’t even do anything.

SZA and Drake recently collaborated on the 2023 songs “Rich Baby Daddy” and “Slime You Out,” the latter of which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart upon release. However, the singer initially thought the Canadian superstar was trying to sabotage her on the song.
In an October interview with The Wall Street Journal, the 34-year-old singer explained that she originally sent 6 God a demo recording of her portion of the track with the intention of re-recording it for the finished product. However, after sending him a more polished version, Drake still used her earlier version in the final version.
“I just gave the first draft to Drake and he was putting it on his album,” she recalls. “I was scared because I handed in the second lead and he didn’t use it. Now I’m like, ‘Are you trying to sabotage me?’ “
“I know that’s not true. I do know that’s not true, but that’s how bad I feel about first drafts. When something comes from an effortless space, I can barely enjoy it.
The pair’s first official collaboration has sparked all kinds of buzz in the media space, including Charlamagne Tha God teasing and talk of working together after their romance over a decade ago.
The singer spent a lot of time in New York in the late 2000s, and the two had a brief relationship, but it ultimately didn’t work out. In a profile for Rolling Stone’s fall issue, she clarified that they were “really young” and “it wasn’t hot or heavy or anything. It was like the smell of youth. It was so childish.”
While some thought it was a diss, others thought she was just saying they were both young and in a casual relationship. When Drake first posted the bombshell news, talk of the couple dating was all over social media, in part because based on the timeline he provided, she might have been underage.
“Yeah, she said she wanted to fuck some SZA, blah blah blah / ‘Cause I dated SZA back in ’08 / If you calm down, baby, she can still play,” the Toronto native said on “Mr. ” rhymes in. Now.
The Billionaire hitmaker later confirmed their relationship on Twitter, clarifying that she was over 18 at the time.
“So that was actually 2009 lol,” she wrote. “A year of poetic rap license is a big deal in this case. Haha I think he just innocently rhymed 08 w wait. Anyone who actually knew me and was around during this time can confirm… everything was peaceful.
“I just don’t want anyone to think anything underage or creepy happened. Totally innocent. Several lifetimes ago.
