Davion Murphy, one of Foolio’s four convicted killers, was sentenced to life in prison but was given a further five years in prison.
According to documents obtained by XXL on Thursday (July 16), Murphy had a court hearing on Wednesday (July 15) where he was sentenced to overtime.
Murphy was arrested last February over the incident, where he reportedly got into a physical altercation with a corrections officer and punched the officer in the face. Court documents show Murphy signed the plea on June 29. The five-year sentence will run concurrently with his life sentence. He was awarded a commendation for serving 536 days.
A week ago, Murphy and his three co-defendants – Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright and Rashad Murphy – were sentenced to life in prison for their roles in the June 2024 killing of Foolio.
Everyone had a chance to speak at the sentencing, and Murphy chose the time of his innocence and shared a brief message to his generation’s peers.
“I just want to say to Gen Z, change your life, do something meaningful with your life, because in this predicament, it’s not worth it,” Murphy told the court.
The four men were convicted in May of murdering Foolio, who was ambushed and shot to death in a Tampa hotel parking lot in the summer of 2024. The fifth person charged in the case, Alicia Andrews, was convicted of manslaughter in 2025. Last month, she was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Prosecutors said the killing was part of an ongoing gang war in Jacksonville, Florida.
