Ronald “Bee Stinger” Savage sat down with AllHipHop’s Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur to revisit Afrika Bambaataa’s controversies and critics and fully explain his truth.

For nearly a decade, Ronald “Bee Stinger” Savage has been one of the most high-profile figures in the ongoing controversy surrounding hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa.

Now, in the wake of Bambaataa’s passing, Savage spoke at length with AllHipHop’s Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur in what may be his most revealing and confusing interview to date.

In a candid and often emotional conversation, the member of the Zulu nation revisits the accusations that forever changed how many people view the late architect of the universal Zulu nation. But instead of doubling down, Savage offered a perspective that might surprise supporters and galvanize critics.

Topics discussed include:

Why Savage says important details about his age and identity were misunderstood from the start. His response to those who posted about Bambaataa’s “Rest In P!ss” message. He considers the role rumors, social media and public perception play in shaping narratives. His ongoing feud with Bam accuser Hassan Campbell. Why he thinks hip-hop should focus on preserving the culture rather than resurrecting decades-old controversies. The emotional story behind a newspaper photo that was misinterpreted by many. Is there anything that could change his current view of Bambaataa’s legacy?

Savage repeatedly expressed frustration with what he saw as misinformation surrounding the case during his conversations with Creekmore. He maintains that the discussion surrounding Bambaataa’s reputation for inappropriate behavior with underage boys stems from speculation.

“I think it’s time for him to rest in peace,” Savage told AllHipHop. “I want to push that culture forward.”

Don’t shy away from difficult questions in interviews. Savage has been under pressure over the accusations, power dynamics, public criticism and what many believe is a conflict that still exists. His answers were the stuff of viral content.

Whether readers agree with him or not, one thing is for sure: the discussion surrounding Africa Bambaataa’s legacy is far from over.

The full interview will be posted on AllHipHop soon.
