“You deserve so much more than your beauty.”
The Tennessee dancer talks about her first night of auditioning at a dance club and how much money she made. However, the profits almost come at a huge price – a fight with another dancer.
Vicki (@ickyvicki43) provided all the details of her night shift as she counted hundreds of $1 bills. She explained that this was her first night shift, arriving at 7pm and leaving at 4am. Her gain? Floor tip $236.
stepping on toes
Vicky said another dancer approached her with an idea for a man sitting in front of the stage.
“We should go, like, all go talk to him,” she said another dancer suggested.
“I was like, you know what? [expletive]? Like, let’s see, you know, what happens. I just take whatever I can get,” Vicki said.
Vicki explains that they used to talk to him and he didn’t really give Vicki much attention. As a result, she walked away and let the other girl continue talking to him. She said another dancer would sometimes come to the back and the man now seemed interested in talking to Vicki.
“In fact, as soon as she walked away, the guy on the railing walked up to me and spent money on me,” she said. “I was like, oh, I peeked and he spent his money on me instead of her. And then a little further down the line, I’m talking to someone and this girl comes up to me and she’s like, ‘Hey, I just want you to know, what’s going on on stage is not cool. This is the stampede. [expletive] toe. “
Vicki said she told the woman to tell her if she did anything like this again because she was new to the game and didn’t know all the rules.
“The last thing I want to see is women’s issues,” Vicki said.
As of this writing, the video has received over 16,900 views and 1,000 likes. Viewers in the comments section said she had done nothing wrong, while others sought advice on how to break into the industry.
“She just thinks she can play because you’re new”
“Well, as an experienced dancer, you didn’t do anything wrong,” one audience member reassured, adding, “She asked you to come to him with her and the customer came to you after talking to him. It’s not your fault. It’s happened to me many times. I saw this guy on the girls’ stage and then he came to talk to me and basically told me that he didn’t like the VIP that much. She just told me that the VIP that he didn’t like that much changed from her to me when she saw him on stage.”
“That’s my fear,” said the second man. “It’s just an extra level of girls’ rules and even if you follow them, they’re still going to take it out on you… I’m scared because I start dancing next month.”
“Omg there’s always going to be a problem, just stick to your guns, what you did was sweet,” another added, referring to Wiki’s decision to tip the woman she had a confrontation with when she later took the stage.
How much do dancers actually make per night?
Is Vicky’s cash income within the typical profit range for a dancer? Well, it depends. Profits may vary for a number of reasons. An article from Business Insider details some of the reasons.
Weather: Sunny days may mean people are outside enjoying the fresh air. But it may also put people in a consumer mood. And rainy nights may scare away customers as people choose to stay in the comfort of their homes. Clothing: How you look affects how much money you make that day. Putting more effort into your appearance will set you apart and get you more advice. Luck: Sometimes it’s just about finding the right people and having the right conversations with them. One dancer recalled earning $500 for a 20-minute conversation about neuroscience with a man.
Unfortunately, dancers may also lose money if they don’t earn many tips and have to pay high venue fees.
In a place like Atlanta, perhaps the exotic dance capital of the country, a dancer can earn between $1,000 and $1,500 for an average night, and between $2,000 and $3,000 for a great night.
