Pharrell listens to his music a little differently than the average person, especially his 2003 hit “Beautiful,” featuring Snoop Dogg.
The super-producer sat down with Kelefa Sanneh on CBS Sunday Morning to promote his LEGO biopic Piece By Piece People elaborated on his “mixed feelings” about his ubiquitous early days as a member of The Neptunes, particularly his falsetto singing in the aforementioned film.
“Snoop and I did a song called ‘Beautiful,’ right?” Pharrell told Sonny. “The girls heard me singing this song. I heard Mickey Mouse.
“I swear to you, when you have time to listen, you will never be able to not hear it again,” he continued. “But that’s what I heard.”

In other Pharrell news, Lupe Fiasco recently shared the history of the short-lived supergroup that formed between the two of them along with Kanye West and Child Rebel Soldier.
In an interview with Sway in the Morning on Friday (October 4), Lupe detailed what happened with the band’s 2007 debut single “Us Placers,” all the way up to his recent efforts to reclaim the name last summer.
When asked by Sway about CRS, Lupe made it clear that he’s still on good terms with Ye and Pharrell, but said “fans feel betrayed” that the band has released nothing but two singles and an appearance on NERD’s “Everybody” No content has been posted outside.
He jokingly lamented that “the two richest black men in the group” were the reason it couldn’t continue. “P[‘]While eating a golden caviar sandwich, Ye is sewing two different Rick Owens jackets to wear in the shower. I’m trying to corral those two,” he said with a laugh.
This gave Lupe the opportunity to tell the entire history of the group.
“There [was] “After Us Placers came out, it got a lot of support from fans as a movement,” he recalls. “We always talked about it. [the group, but] It kind of fell by the wayside…then the n-ggas got rich and crazy and shit went left.
But the crew’s handful of songs proved to have a huge impact on a new generation of creators.
“It’s always been incubated with people like Taylor[, the Creator],” he said.
