Ludacris received his first Webby Award for his epic performance at the Atlanta Falcons 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop Celebration, and the Atlanta legend is thrilled with the honor.
The rapper-turned-actor took to Instagram on Thursday (April 25) to thank the committee for the honor and admitted that it was on his agenda whether he won the award or not.
“I just got word that I won a Webby Award, the Internet’s highest honor,” he says in the video. “Rappeling down from Mercedes-Benz Stadium. I was shocked because I wanted to do it anyway.
He continued, “So thank you Falcons. Thank you to everyone involved. Everyone who knows me knows that I’m a thrill seeker, knows that I’m an adrenaline junkie. I think because I would have done it anyway It would be foolish to take credit for something.
Back in November, Luda dangled from the roof of Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium while singing his classic hit “Move Bitch” as part of Atlanta’s 50th anniversary celebration of hip-hop.
“I got some Georgia Dome today,” the rapper and actor joked on Instagram, referencing the Falcons’ former home while sharing GoPro footage of his dramatic stunt, which not only left those in attendance. It left a lasting impression, as well as some of his rap peers watching at home.
“Wow that’s awesome,” Tyler, The Creator commented under the video, while Redman added: “Awesome [fire emojis] !
Ludacris appeared at the end of the third quarter to cap off the day of hip-hop celebrations.
Halftime entertainment came from Jeezy, Cee-Lo Green, Jermaine Dupri, Big Boi and Quavo, with the Migos rapper paying tribute to his cousin TakeOff, who was murdered last year.
TI was also in the building, leading the Falcons onto the field while singing his 2004 hit “Bring Em Out.”
The Falcons, who have a longstanding relationship with hip-hop thanks to the number of artists from the city, announced the celebration last week with a long list of local rappers.
These names include legends like Goodie Mob, Killer Mike, DJ Drama and Bow Wow, as well as more contemporary artists like JID, Young Nudy, 6LACK and EarthGang.

Artists such as Jermaine Dupri, André 3000, Big Boi, Ludacris and T.I. Michael Vick’s No. 7 jersey is featured on all The best-selling era in sports comes to the fore.
She added, “This relationship not only continues, but thrives, and reflects Atlanta’s continued importance in the world of hip-hop. Our continued collaboration with artists like Jeezy, 2 Chainz, Quavo, Pastor Troy, and the broader hip-hop community remains a top priority for us because it reflects our deep dedication to Atlanta’s culture and our commitment to unity.
