During the evacuation, a security guard made comments to Lizzo about her age, which was inappropriate for the Grammy-winning artist, who retaliated by asking the security guard to keep their hands on her.
The entire interaction quickly escalated as Santana was led away from the scene.
Kai addressed the controversy head on and explained his reasoning.
He said, “I just saw Santana on campus. I communicated with Lizzo’s team and said, ‘This is a college live event. Unfortunately, I don’t care who it is, how old they are, what happened. Please respect the event.’ I communicated that to Lizzo’s team. This was communicated to Lizzo in error. Lizzo is innocent.”

The anchor made it clear that his security was not about being rude; They just follow the rules that apply to everyone at the event.
However, Kay also admitted that the way his security staff handled the situation could have been better.
“The problem isn’t what you say, it’s how you act and talk… like you’re already so big that it’s intimidating,” he said of the officer’s actions.
Kai’s response shows he understands both sides of the equation, recognizing that safety protocols are important, but also acknowledging that how those rules are enforced is equally important.
Streamer University 2026 is the second year for the event, which selected just 120 students from more than 1 million applicants, making it more selective than most Ivy League schools.
Featuring the professors themselves such as Pokimane, Cinna and Lizzo, as well as club directors such as T-Pain and Lethal Shooter, the event creates a high-stakes environment where every detail matters.
Kai’s commitment to keeping the event in order shows he’s serious about building something legitimate, even if it means having uncomfortable conversations with major artists.
