King Harris went off on social media after being arrested on a felony charge in Gwinnett County after a late-night traffic stop.
Harris King was arrested in Gwinnett County early Sunday after a speeding stop was upgraded to a felony charge and comments on social media drew widespread attention.
Gwinnett County police said Harris was pulled over around 1 a.m. after officers spotted him driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. A routine traffic stop quickly escalated when police reported seeing a gun inside the car.
Harris was ordered to get out of the vehicle, but he refused, leading to his arrest at the scene, police said. Police also reported finding a vape pen believed to contain THC.
Harris was reportedly charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of willfully obstructing law enforcement, as well as two traffic tickets for speeding and not wearing a seat belt.
The incident marked another high-profile moment for the young artist, who has struggled to forge his own identity in the spotlight associated with his famous family.
Shortly after news of the arrest broke, Harris posted on social media, writing “F##k dat Police” and making inflammatory remarks to the family of an officer. The posts were widely circulated online, drawing criticism for their timing and tone.
Law enforcement has not responded publicly to social media comments and is focusing on the charges and procedural details of the arrest. It’s unclear whether the online statement will have additional legal consequences.
Harris now faces multiple charges that could have lasting consequences as the case progresses.
