Kanye West’s European tour continues to fall apart as Italy becomes the latest country to ban him from performing.
Kanye West’s European tour is unraveling faster than anyone expected, with Italy just becoming the latest country to shut him down completely.
Italian authorities banned him and Travis Scott from performing at the RCF Arena in Reggio Emilia, citing public order and safety concerns that went beyond typical venue logistics.
The decision, which was strictly enforced under Article 2 of Italy’s Comprehensive Public Safety Law, was taken after provincial governor Salvatore Angieri convened the Public Safety Committee on May 25.
The two shows were scheduled to take place back-to-back at Gaia Pulse Festival, with Travis on July 17 and Kanye on July 18, at a venue with a capacity of more than 103,000 people.
Officials specifically cited the risk of counter-demonstrations and the tight timeframe between consecutive performances as major factors in their reasoning.
According to Italian authorities, the decision also takes into account previously canceled concerts in other European countries, suggesting that governments are actively monitoring this pattern.
This is not an isolated incident.
Britain bans Kanye from entering the country, forcing London Wireless Festival to be cancelled. Poland rejected his performance after government officials urged organizers to deny him access to public venues.
Swiss FC Basel canceled his show, France postponed his performance in Marseille and even India suspended its New Delhi concert scheduled for May 23 due to security concerns.
The governor’s decision came after the Jewish communities of Modena and Regio, as well as the consumer advocacy group Codacons, submitted formal requests opposing the concert.
Their concerns reflect a broader view in Europe that the show should be allowed to go ahead, given the ongoing controversy surrounding Kanye’s public statements and the security implications they pose.
Organizers of Pulse of Gaia music festival now face the challenge of restructuring the entire July line-up without its two headliners, with the refund process for ticket holders on both dates still unclear.
