Earlier this year, the industry’s awkward cultural moment took a new turn – Cam’ron and J. Cole finally officially made amends. For the uninitiated, we’re referring to Cam’ron filing legal action against J. Cole over the possible removal of a song from his mixtape.
Camron had previously claimed that Cole only gave him a co-writing credit on the song “Ready ’24,” despite his vocals appearing on the record. He also claims that he never received any royalties or financial compensation for his work on the song, and instead was offered a podcast appearance (without a poem in return), which never happened.
Tensions between the two were eased earlier this year when Cole actually decided to appear on Camron’s podcast and even participated in a sketch to address the absurdity and awkwardness of the whole situation. Now, the parties have reached a settlement on May 26 and the outstanding matters have been resolved.
Lawyers for both sides said the pair had reached an “agreement in principle” to end the matter and that they were “finalizing settlement documents.” However, the details of the settlement have been kept secret. Well, all the best, happy ending!
