Soul icon India.Arie put a massive online firestorm to rest by clarifying her highly publicized critique of Yung Miami’s viral new single “Spend Dat”.
Arie explicitly noted that she did not call for a public boycott, despite headlines claiming otherwise. She said her comments were about “lyrical content and artist responsibility”.
The clarification came after 48 hours of backlash from City Girls fans and hip-hop media. Arie said “we need dialogue, not cancellation”.
“Spend Dat” remains in rotation and is climbing Urban radio.
