Joey Badass praised his natural charisma for allowing him to seamlessly transition from hip-hop to acting in Thrones III: Raising Kenan.
The Brooklyn rapper talks about his five-year journey playing Unique on the hit Starz series, which is entering its final season.
Badas said the production quality and family atmosphere on the set made it the best experience of his film and television career.
“I think one of my special abilities has always been my charisma,” Bardas explained. “So, I think I’m able to draw that naturally from my artistry. That’s what artistry is. We get on stage and channel the energy and give them that vibe. It’s the same thing when you’re in front of the camera and channel the energy and give them that vibe, you know what I mean?”
The rapper emphasized the need for both to channel emotion and connect with the audience, whether it’s a crowd at a concert or someone watching a TV show.
Badass’ character Unique undergoes significant changes throughout the series, going from a powerful character to a pariah. When asked what fans can expect from the characters in the final season, Badass revealed there are more surprises to come.
“Well, I think one of the great things about Unique and one of the things that makes this character so hot and so beloved and so appealing is his unpredictability,” Badass said. “So, expect the unexpected.”
His growth as an actor over the five seasons has been remarkable, with critics and fans praising his ability to inject depth and charm into uniquely complex characters.
