Now that the release date for Drake’s Iceman album has finally been announced, fans are really hoping that Drizzy and Future will reunite on the project, despite rumors that they had a falling out.
Fans are delighted that the release date for Drake’s Iceman album has been announced. On Tuesday (April 21), Twitch streamer Kishka discovered Drizzy’s Iceman release date hidden in a blue bag inside a block of ice.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation then went to God No. 6’s “Embassy” mansion in Toronto and opened a large-print magazine in front of the camera, which revealed the release date of “The Iceman”: May 15. In addition, there is an inscription that reads “The 26th of 2024 will be my year.”
After news of the project’s release date broke, the internet began to speculate wildly about whether Future would appear on Drake’s Iceman album, despite rumors that they had fallen out. As you may recall, Future and Metro Boomin released their collaborative album We Don’t Trust You in 2024, which featured the blistering diss song “Like That,” in which Kendrick Lamar destroyed any thoughts of rap’s Big Three, including Drake.
The song, of course, sparked one of the most historic rap battles of all time between Drizzy and K-Dot, a battle ultimately won by Compton Rhymes with his ubiquitous diss track “Not Like Us.”
Drake reportedly felt betrayed by Future for allowing Kendrick to disrespect him on “Like That.” However, Future was confused by Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” diss because Hendrix believed he belonged in The Big 3. Despite rumors that the OVO leader and Future Hendrix were burying the hatchet in 2024, neither camp has actually confirmed that they have officially resolved their differences.
Still, fans on social media are desperate for a reunion between Drake and Future in “Iceman.”
“Iceman on May 15th…I hope Drake and Future can make amends,” one user on X wrote.
Another fan added to his list of people he’d like to see guest star in “The Iceman.” “I want the Iceman features: Dave, Future, J. Cole, Temus/Gene Aiko,” he wrote.
Finally, a third person wrote a touching post recalling Drake and Future’s 2015 collaboration, What a Time to be Alive, and hoping they would reunite on “Iceman.”
“If Drake and Future do get back together on ‘Iceman,’ I’ll probably shed a tear, man, can’t believe I forgot what we had,” he wrote while sharing an image of WATTBA’s cover art.
Hopefully, Drake will read fan reactions to Iceman’s release date and reach out to Future to coordinate and deliver on what fans have come to expect from his project.
