DJ Akademiks’ profile has grown significantly since the Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud began. He was sampled in a song, mentioned in a song, and revered as one of the leading sources of new information. The internet celebrity confirmed that the fight stemmed from Lamar’s decision to turn down a cameo from Drake on “The First-Person Shooter.” On May 8, he continued to tease his inside information.
DJ Akademiks posted a cryptic message on his Instagram Story that got fans excited. An all-black background serves as a base for white text that reads, “Waiting for some records.” He also added a smiling emoji, hinting that fans are in for a treat. However, what makes Ak’s post mysterious is that he didn’t specify which rapper is releasing new music. To be sure, Drake or Kendrick Lamar are the most likely candidates. Akademiks stated that a diss song was scheduled to be released on May 7, which also confirmed this.

DJ Akademiks claims new Disses are coming
“There should be some new music today,” Acker said via livestream. “I won’t say who or confirm from either side that we are indeed interested.” As for whether Drake will follow up with his second consecutive diss after “Heart Six” or whether Lamar will respond quickly, there is widespread debate. Drake’s last diss received mixed reviews from listeners and currently has more dislikes than likes on YouTube, so it might be in his best interest to give it another try. However, Lamar said he still has many songs tucked away.
Another theory floating around the internet is that the song Acker teased isn’t from Drake or Lamar. Some people think they despise two completely different artists. The Game, for example, has been savaging Rick Ross on social media. As seen throughout his two-decade career, The Game loves a fight, and he recently criticized the way current rappers like J. Cole have become “soft.” We could easily see a world where Game decides to declare war on Rozay. As it stands, DJ Akademiks is the only one with information on the release. Hopefully he’s telling the truth and we’ll be hearing these “records” soon.
