Dame Dash is heavily promoting his new BET series “OG Stories,” but his latest news has people talking about other things, like Jay-Z.
Mrs. Dash is on the rampage.
The Roc-A-Fella co-founder has a new show on BET called OG Stories, which he’s promoting with all the media. One thing should be clear from the get-go: Dame is the creator of the show. He doesn’t just show up in it. He’s behind it. He’s also used the platform to promote music and other causes, proving once again that, somehow, Dame always finds a way to make money.
I’m not angry with him. Some people may be.
From what I understand, Dame is in the middle of an extensive media campaign, and in typical Dame fashion, he’s making headlines everywhere he goes. The show itself focuses on the stories of well-known figures related to street culture, entrepreneurship and survival. The latest episode centers on Michelle Smalls, often called the Queen of Harlem.
Let’s be clear: Michelle Smalls is not a gangster. She is a respected businesswoman, author and real estate entrepreneur with a remarkable story. Not to be confused with some other street-based reality shows. This is not the case.
Now, back to Notre Dame.
In interview after interview, he attacked just about everyone. This shouldn’t surprise anyone. References to Jay-Z and Charlamagne Tha God keep popping up, which has become a recurring theme whenever Dame sits in front of a microphone. There were other goals, but some of the comments were a little too pointed to discuss right now.
It’s obvious that Dame knows how to get people talking.
Whether all the controversy will translate into ratings is another matter entirely.
I watched this show and honestly, it was hilarious. The stories are interesting and Damm’s personality really keeps things moving. BET is also operating under a new leadership structure, so it will be interesting to see how proactive the network is in supporting original content like this.
Will there be a second season of OG Stories?
Will viewers tune into the story? Will they listen to Dam’s comments? Or does the title obscure the actual content?
Now, we’ll have to wait and see.
While we wait, we’re also waiting for that infamous “Teeth” song aimed at his rivals to finally land on your favorite DSP.
What do you think? Is Dame helping OG Stories by stirring up controversy, or is he becoming part of the story himself?
