The sentencing of convicted Foolio killer Alicia Andrews has been delayed as she seeks a new trial.
Last October, Andrews was convicted of manslaughter for his role in the 2024 murder of the rapper in Jacksonville, Florida. She was originally scheduled to be sentenced in January. However, the punishment phase has been delayed as her lawyers fight for a new trial. In court on Monday (May 11), they claimed that Judge Michel Sisco “made several important rulings that affected the outcome of the trial”.
Attorneys cited multiple errors during the preliminary hearing and trial, including errors made during jury instruction. They also noted that communications with the defense were unprofessional. Judge Sisco was fired from the Florida Supreme Court in January after Andrews’ legal team alleged bias. Andrews’ next court date is May 22, according to court records filed Tuesday (May 12).
If convicted, Andrews would have faced up to 15 years in prison for manslaughter.
The latest development in Andrews’ case comes after four other suspects in the case – Sean Garthright, Rashad Murphy, Davion Murphy and Isaiah Chance – were found guilty of murder and attempted murder in connection with Forio’s murder.
Police said the group followed Forio from Jacksonville to Tampa, Florida, and shot him as he and his friends sat in front of a Holiday Inn. Andrews and Chance are accused of stalking Forio and providing his location to three other men who shot and killed the rapper.
