Bobby Shmurda shot to fame in 2014 with the single “Hot N***a,” but his career came to an abrupt halt that same year when he and his associates were arrested on charges including conspiracy to commit murder.
Jay-Z references Bobby’s name in the song “Bam” from the 4:44 album, using Bobby’s violent tendencies as a punchline. “I’ll do Bobby Shmurda for anybody you ever heard of,” he raps, in what is arguably one of the coldest bars on the project. But the Bobby he mentioned on the track is now accusing Jay-Z and Roc Nation of mismanaging his career.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg; Bobby Shmurda posted on Instagram, accusing Jay-Z and his legal team of pressuring him into a plea deal. According to him, he even told the judge that he was under pressure and that the judge could not care less. “The judge said he didn’t care, he was going to send me and all my friends upstate and we could get it on appeal,” he concluded.
