This is a new collaborative mixtape from Key Largo, Florida emcee and Chapter 17 Records signee Darby O’Trill and C17 founder/CEO and Psychopathic Records recording artist Ouija Macc. Both have already established themselves in the underground, evil shit scene, whether it’s Ouija labeling himself the biggest solo act on the street before launching his own Psychopathic subsidiary, or Darby releasing his 17th chapter debut album Creek released Gully last summer in partnership with Lyrikal Snuff Productionz, which celebrates its second anniversary later this month to critical acclaim and remains his best feature-length work. Last fall, Coronella’s collaboration with Trizz became my favorite collaboration, and Ouija had surpassed We Never Forgot’s collaboration with Baby E when C17 came out, but I have a feeling Anemoia could top both of those.
“Kennel Cough” is a dark trap opener, calling out all those who claim they’ve been around but have never seen them before, while “Wafflehouse Warlock” talks in this mix of hi-hat vocal samples They live their lives with death in mind. Darkmoon Talisman brings a morbid trap atmosphere to the table, thanks to Devereaux, who can use their brains to control the demons in their head before Nugget Bowling shoots its ghostly way straight towards the dome. Play hockey.
Meanwhile, on “Juggalunatic,” we get Ouija and Darby’s trap metal insanity, into “Kidney Stones,” which talks about being able to promise something you don’t really want over a bass-heavy trap beat with some ringtones thing. The Evil Duke himself and Violent J of the Insane Clown Posse appears on Anemoia’s “The Trees Have Eyes,” warning everyone to stay away from the woods over a terrifying Shaggytheairhead instrumental, but then “Sage Allergy” continues with a hilarious joke about smoking. ‘Until a bastard can’t see.
“Anemoians” swerves through slow, bleak waters knowing the two of them are not alone, while “Need 2 Kill Something” further explores industrial trap sounds and talks about straight-up murder. “Corpse01dotMDL” sounds a bit like a hyphy/trap fusion to me, about the shit they’re yelling about, and about hammering your skull in until the second single “Graveyard Shift” admits to digging. until it breaks. 』These tombs have been defeated by demonic traps for days.
Kicking off the album’s final stretch, “Jokaroholio” darkly rubs you in the face, telling you that the joke is ultimately on you, while lead single “Cobratoxin” is a terrifying trap that refuses to believe any woman who isn’t 17. . “Worry Warts” jumps onto a trap with samples, which helps not worry about the next guy, while “Death of a Summer” admits to feeling exhausted and desperate to take the clouded route again. On the other hand, “Cross Over” ended with Anemoia having the last trap metal cut, and since they had no metal cut, they couldn’t go home.
Coronella was launched only 7 months ago and is completely different from any other collaboration Ouija has done, Anemoia here has reached, if not exceeded, the standards set by Coronella. This is an example of the strength of the Psychopathic subsidiary when you consider that they are the only two current artists on C17 as I write this. The chemistry between the two of them is very natural as they skip most of the trap oriented production and add in extra elements of trap metal and cloud rap.
