Giggs is building a school for schizophrenia children in Kent, turning his own struggles into support for the next generation.
Giggs is building something that most people can only dream of.
A school designed for schizophrenic children, built by a man who knows all too well about being abandoned by the system.
The British rapper, who has partnered with the OMG Foundation to create St James House in Gravesend, Kent, isn’t waiting to make that happen.
The assessment center opened in September this year and the entire school will be operational in January 2027.
That’s what makes it different. Giggs didn’t get the support he needed.
He had autism at school but no one noticed it, so he kept getting into trouble, getting kicked out of class every day and eventually convincing himself that nothing was okay.
This mentality followed him to prison twice. Now that he has an autistic child of his own, he’s determined to build a place he never had.
“I’m autistic myself, but I know we all have superpowers,” he said. “I want to have the greatest talent who know how to unleash their greatest potential.”
The school will cater for pupils aged 11 to 18 who are currently excluded from mainstream education.
According to ITV News, the facility will include classrooms, workshops, a gym and quiet spaces for children who need to unwind after a busy day.
Giggs hopes to hire teachers who truly understand how the autistic and ADHD mind works, rather than those who are just going through the motions.
He talks about producing “the greatest accountants of all time or the people who build the next spaceship.” This is not just a school. This is a launch pad.
The fundraising goal is $1.2 million to cover renovation and operating expenses. And support is already rolling in.
Damien Hirst sent the painting to auction. Robbie Williams said he wanted to be involved. Stephen Fry donates signed books. Ed Sheeran is setting up studios and possible collaborations in schools across the country.
This isn’t some celebrity vanity project, either. Giggs puts his money where his mouth is and has funded the assessment center he set up.
The first students will walk through those doors in January 2027, and Giggs will be there to make sure they get everything he never got.
