Diddy was once again left off Trump’s pardon list, allowing the music mogul to serve out his sentence without presidential intervention or clemency.
Diddy was left off Trump’s pardon list on Friday afternoon, dealing another major blow to the music mogul’s hopes of receiving a pardon.
Trump announced the latest round of clemency decisions after weeks of speculation over whether the president would grant him a presidential pardon, and Diddy was not included, CBS News reported.
The president instead focused on six people convicted of emissions violations, claiming they were being persecuted by the Biden administration for what he called “fixing their cars.”
Trump had been discussing Dee Dee’s case privately until a meeting with advisers on clemency Friday afternoon.
Diddy and other high-profile inmates seeking clemency will not appear on the recommendation list, but Trump ultimately has the final say on who will receive clemency.
The White House confirmed that “President Trump is the final say on any clemency-related action,” which is technically open until an actual announcement is made.
But when Trump posted about his pardon decision on “Truth Society,” Didi’s name could not be found.
This marks the second time Trump has rejected Didi’s request for a pardon.
Back in January, Trump told The New York Times that Diddy sent a handwritten letter seeking a pardon, but the president said he decided not to do so after reading the letter.
Now, despite reports that the matter is still being discussed behind closed doors, Trump has chosen to move forward without offering clemency to the music mogul.
Diddy’s sentence is set to end in February 2028, meaning he will serve the entire sentence unless circumstances change.
Other high-profile figures seeking clemency have also been unsuccessful, including Grammy Award-winning rapper Pras Michel of The Fugees, who is serving a 14-year sentence on foreign lobbying conspiracy charges stemming from his relationship with Malaysian financier Jho Low.
