A viral video of a Knicks parade cost a JPMorgan Chase executive his job because he dumped trash on the sidewalk and left behind a monumental city trash can.
Angie Báez probably never thought that Knicks championship parade memorabilia would cost her a high-level Wall Street job.
Damn, my BX Latin Queen.
The former JPMorgan Chase executive became the latest unexpected internet celebrity after a viral video showed her dumping trash on a Manhattan sidewalk. After doing that, she was seen walking away with a limited-edition Knicks-themed trash can during a championship celebration in New York City. oops.
The ordeal that made her so happy ended with her reportedly being fired.
According to reports, Báez, 40, served as executive director of community and industry engagement for bank cards and connected commerce at JPMorgan Chase. Sources told the New York Post that the bank launched an internal review. The company has confirmed she is no longer employed by the company.
That’s what New York was like when it happened. Baez, dressed head to toe in Knicks colors, emptied the contents of a special blue-and-orange public trash can onto the street. Then she took the container away. Then she saw this dumpster on the subway like it was the hottest Knicks merchandise in town. Madam, this is a trash can.

Before the incident, Baez was a true people’s champion. Her career revolves around inclusion, community engagement and corporate leadership. She previously held diversity and inclusion roles at several large companies and was known as “a person who is committed to making a positive impact and excels in all aspects of her job.”
Now she is a symbol of the city’s disassociation from brutality. I mean, come on. They have everything from fights to toe licking. But, I guess they’re drawing a hard line here.
The New York City Sanitation Department said: “Dumping trash on the street and stealing public property for personal use are illegal, antisocial behaviors and not what New Yorkers do. Most importantly, doing both of these things on camera is extremely stupid.” I’m sorry, but based on my social media feeds, this is exactly what New Yorkers do. And it did.
The NYPD said it has not received any complaints and Baez has not been charged with a crime.
That’s fine. She just got caught up in the hype. However, people didn’t give her a pass. She might be able to do other things, like take selfies in a crowd. Or twerking while someone spanked her, which actually happened.
I think she will come back.
That orange-and-blue trash can and her time with the Knicks was a very expensive lesson.
