Pharrell, also known as Skateboard P, has just launched a new skateboard-inspired shoe for Louis Vuitton. Otherwise, the design is eerily similar to Vans, a company best known for its skate shoes.
Pharrell was seen wearing the latest red Louis Vuitton SS27 shoes, which are undoubtedly very similar to Vans shoes and the company was quick to take notice. Vans’ Instagram account commented on Pharrell’s post, saying “Oh, bet” – hinting that they were aware of the fact.
From the design of the seams to the black lines on the side soles to the overall cut of the shoes (except for the crocodile leather texture on LV), everything seems to be very similar.
Vans then shared their own version of the shoe on Instagram, responding with the Clipse lyrics: “To know the time, better give us a clock.” Additionally, they released a statement saying their designs are “authentic — distinctive since 1966.”
