Vic Mensa has declared that playing Prince in a biopic is his ultimate goal, thanks to recent Hollywood deals and acting credits.
Vic Mensa just put his Hollywood ambitions on full display, and the vision is crystal clear.
The Chicago rapper and actor said playing Prince in a biopic was his ultimate goal, but he backed away from that in a recent interview circulating on social media.
His words were direct and unapologetic: “Yes, I would like to play Prince in a biopic. That’s my ultimate goal.”
This isn’t just small talk, either. Mensah has been building a resume to back up that claim, and the timing couldn’t be more interesting given what’s going on in the entertainment world right now.
Mensah’s acting credentials are already solid. He is best known for his role as Jamal on Showtime’s “The Chi,” in which he played a reformed bad boy living life in Chicago.
In addition, he also plays business mentor Quentin in the Peacock series “Bel-Air”.
There’s also a crazy coincidence that back in 2020, he played a character named Prince in the crime drama Akira’s Run.
So the man already had acting experience and he had been thinking about the role of the prince for a minute.
Context makes this even more interesting. The Michael Jackson biopic Michael just became the highest-grossing music biopic of all time, which means Hollywood is hungry for projects like this.
What’s more strategic about Mensah’s push are his recent moves in the entertainment industry. He recently signed a management agreement with Issa Rae’s company ColorCreative, which specializes in film and television agencies.
He also signed a deal with United Talent Agency (UTA) for representation in all areas. These are not random moves.
Mensah has positioned himself in Hollywood, and he does so with purpose.
The timing is also worth noting. The 2026 Prince Celebration just concluded in Minneapolis from June 3 to 7, and was originally scheduled to celebrate his birthday on June 7.
The city is honoring his legacy in Paisley Park and downtown Minneapolis with five days of live music and special events.
