French Montana and Max B are reunited in Porridge: Space Brothers, which will be released on May 22, 17 years after Max B was released from prison.
French Montana and Max B are about to complete a cosmic puzzle that seemed mathematically impossible just a few months ago.
The two artists are set to release Wave Gods 2: Cosmos Brothers on May 22, and the events surrounding this reunion sound like the universe itself has orchestrated their second act.
Max B walked out of prison on Nov. 9 after serving 17 years and 10 months in a sentence that once felt like a life sentence. When he first got the ’75 bid, the chances of him ever recording with French Montana again seemed slim. However, they are ready to release an album together.
The possibilities that existed in this moment were completely beyond conventional expectations. French Montana never stopped believing in reunions.
“When they sentenced him to 75 years in prison, it seemed like he would never come home,” French-Montana said. “So, what you’re seeing now is a miracle because when we started, even though he had his own journey and I had my own journey, something special happened when we came together. That was about 20 years ago. So when it started happening, we were about to take off, it was taken away from us.”
The album title comes from something Max B kept repeating during a phone call from prison. The date of his release coincides with French Montana’s birthday, a fitting moment that feels too precise to ignore.
“He said, ‘Yo, man, I got a release date on your birthday.’ He said, ‘Just God. It’s like cosmic energy,'” French Montana recalled. “This was larger than life. So, he kept talking about cosmic energy. I was like, ‘Yeah, we are cosmic brothers.’ After a while, it became a headline.”
Max B’s gratitude for this second chance shines through in everything he does.
“I’m always optimistic, always hopeful. I’m grateful to be here. That’s why I work hard. That’s why I don’t show up. That’s what I can do. It’s the least I can do. Show up, you know, do whatever I can to give back to the business, give back to the game, give back to the people who have supported me during my time here,” he said, according to ABC News.
French Montana sees the project as part of a larger mission to restore hip-hop’s lost music.
“What I’m all about is restoration. I feel like the music industry has lost that edge, lost music that people appreciate. We used to listen to albums for two, three, four years, not two weeks, not one week. I’m just here to restore the excellence of music, the brilliance of music, and show what this game is about, hard work and quality product,” he said.
The project includes the track “Smoking Part 2,” which provides a preview of what’s to come once the full project arrives.
French Montana and Max B’s previous collaborations had built a chemistry that made this reunion inevitable once freedom became possible.
With Max B finally back home and the two artists united once again, Wave Gods 2: Cosmos Brothers represents both a personal triumph and the type of music they want to make in 2026.
