Kodak Black is out of jail on $75,000 bail in a drug trafficking case.
The South Florida rapper appeared in court in Orange County, Florida, for a bond hearing on Thursday (May 7) after surrendering to authorities on Wednesday (May 6). During the hearing, Yak’s attorney, Bradfod Cohen, asked for a $10,000 bond, citing circumstantial evidence in the case. However, the judge granted Kodak (real name Bill Capri) a $75,000 bail due to his past criminal record, which included 12 felony arrests. As part of his bail, Jacques must stay away from drugs, guns and associates related to the case.
Kodak was mobbed by reporters as he left the courthouse, but he declined to answer questions.
The case stems from events in November 2025. Police said they searched a car and found a bag containing MDMA strapped to the rapper’s body. Lawyers for Kodak disputed the allegations in a statement to XXL on Thursday.
“Legally, the case was insufficient to charge possession of the item,” Cohen said. “Then, instead of simple possession, they doubled down and filed it as a trafficking charge. I will fight that charge. This is an ongoing theme where cases that typically would not be filed against Mr. Capri because of weak legal foundations. We look forward to another fruitful resolution to another case that should never have been filed.”
