Preacher is Snoop Dogg’s most anticipated album in years. The Long Beach legend is certainly building up the hype, from its title to its framing as a sequel to his beloved debut, Doggystyle . Snoop Dogg even brought in Dr. Dre to handle much of the production. Preacher has been teased for a few years now, but all signs point to the album being released soon. Snoop confirmed the theory himself when he recently spoke at the Bloomberg Screen Conference in Los Angeles. He also revealed some features and trust us when we say they are surprising.
Snoop Dogg has claimed that Preacher will be the album that brings him to the end of his illustrious career. He has become such a well-known figure that the idea of him retiring from the music industry is not surprising. “This new record will allow me to do one last big stadium tour,” he explains. “Because a lot of the features on this record that I’m excited about are big-name artists.” Naturally, Snoop was asked which big-name artists would be on the album.
Snoop Dogg has wanted to work with Sting for decades
It’s logical to assume that Snoop Dogg would choose a big-name rapper. But he didn’t and decided to branch out and connect with some pop stars. “I got a feature from Jelly Roll and Sting,” Snoop said. “I’m so happy that Sting and I have made such a great record.” The rapper is especially excited about working with the former frontman of The Police. He also admitted that he has been a fan since childhood.
“We hang out, we’re relaxed,” Snoop Dogg told the audience. “It’s like a kid having a crush on someone as a singer. You get a chance to meet them and they give you everything you expect.” Sting also expressed praise when talking about the collaboration with BBC Radio 2. “Snoop and I recorded ‘Message in a Bottle’ and he gave it a different name,” the iconic singer said. “I play the guitar and sing on it, but Snoop also sings on it, which is a big revelation to me.” We can’t wait to hear how these two sound on the record.
