The long-awaited Benny The Butcher and Drake collaboration “Buffalo Freestyle” is finally here.
Some fans will remember that the song had been in the works for a while, but ran into distribution issues. Last year, Benny expressed his frustration with the song’s unreleased status while chatting with Joe Budden on his Amazon Amp show Conversation Lovers Only.
“I’m pissed, I’m not lying. This is really a record for Drake,” he said. “This is my biggest record… It’s just a record that’s in my pocket, but I understand how the industry works.”
“I have no idea [what happened] Neither. I can’t speak [Drake] And his team…I have a schedule. I might be doing a feature for someone and they’re like, “Benny, we’re going to give up this Tuesday.” And I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re not going to give up on Tuesday because we’re putting it off, I get it. That’s the biggest artist in the world, so I understand that he might have a busy release schedule, or he might have someone say, “We can’t drop it now because we’re doing this.” I understand that. He was the name, but he represented a lot of people that he worked with and his actions impacted a lot of people, so I understand that.
Much of the song also leaked a few years ago, but we now finally have an official version of the collaboration out on DSP. This is part of Benny’s three freestyle package called Buffalo Butch, Vol. 1, also includes 38 Spesh and Fabolous.
“I’m sicker than these people want me/Drake to hang around, but life isn’t Nickelodeon or Disney, are you kidding me?/My resume is thicker than Nicki’s, I’m busy/I remember being in Mississippi State Jackson does halftime/wasn’t driving a Cadillac, but shit still found a way to escalate fast,” raps Drizzy on your track which can be heard below.
