The certified Boogeyman from Compton is none other than rapper Kendrick Lamar, who’s making another appearance — this time in the long-awaited music video for “Not Like Us.” The video comes with a proud disclaimer: No OVHOES were harmed during the making of this video. The key word is “period” – talk about incorporating that into it!

Ever since Kendrick’s victory over Drake was widely recognized, the atmosphere for the new Dot video has been buzzing with excitement. Kendrick represented Los Angeles in a way that made his community proud, and oh my god, they were on the set of the film!

Prior to the film’s release, audiences around the world were aware that something was afoot; Los Angeles residents crossed the set or joined Kendrick in filming the masterpiece in a chaotic scene – which, of course, is well illustrated in the video itself, Kendrick destroys the OVO piñata and performs with his city with confidence.

The film beautifully captures the hip-hop culture of Los Angeles and provides a more personal look at Kendrick’s immediate family. This may be another nail in the coffin for Drake, who has continually hinted at abuse in rap legend Kendrick’s family.
