Former YSL co-defendant Antonio Sledge, also known as Mounk Tounk, had five years of probation revoked after a Fulton County judge ruled he violated his 2022 plea agreement by giving dishonest testimony in court.
The decision comes after prosecutors accused Sledge of deliberately contradicting his initial statements, complicating ongoing court proceedings related to his case.
Sledge reached a plea deal last year that required him to cooperate with the state’s case and confirm 16 specific factual claims, but he was accused of failing to live up to his end of the bargain during a September deposition.
Sledge did not fully confirm the timeline and circumstances of the 2015 murder of Donovan Thomas, the events at the heart of the prosecution’s case, instead repeatedly claiming “I don’t remember” when referring to key details he agreed to talk about.
These differences were not recognized by the courts.
The judge said at the hearing: “Even if we completely ignore item eight of the admission of fact, the state is still relying on a lot of other facts. I don’t see how you resolve the rest.” Sworn in open court on December 28, 2022 One thing, and then the exact opposite was sworn in on September 5th.
Sledge defended his actions by citing personal pressure when he initially decided to accept the plea deal.
He told the court his mother was ill, faced financial difficulties and had the responsibility of caring for eight children; he felt forced to accept the terms, which included 15 years of probation.
Prosecutors have questioned Sledge’s dishonesty on the witness stand and are now asking him to accept the maximum sentence allowed, signaling a tough stance on enforcing the plea agreement.
Donovan Thomas, nicknamed “Big Nutt,” was killed outside an Atlanta barber shop in 2015, which authorities said was carried out by members of YSL, including rapper Young Thug.
The murder was considered a pivotal incident that reportedly heightened tensions between the YSL and YFN gangs and triggered a series of violent reprisals in the Atlanta area.
