Westside Gunn is giving fans a glimpse into the earliest stages of his journey into the shoe industry.
The Griselda rap maestro announced in a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday (October 9) that he is collaborating with Saucony to launch his own sneaker. While he’s remained tight-lipped on details about the sneaker silhouette and the expected arrival of his first pair, he’s made up for it by providing his fans and followers with a series of hands-on images and videos. The method adopted.
“First day at the office @saucony,” Westside Gunn wrote in part.
“I’m proud to announce that I’m officially ditching my first pair of sneakers!!!” he wrote. “This is a dream come true and I just want to say thank you so much for believing in my art and thank you @jaetips for opening doors and inspiring me to keep pushing the culture forward…”
As Westside Gunn continued in the post’s caption, he was making a big bet on himself in anticipation of the final product.
“Thanks also to the staff for believing in my vision and treating me like a day one, I won’t be disappointed,” he wrote. “Big things are happening and I just want you to know that God is the greatest and your support is what keeps me going. I will pit my 800,000 followers against someone’s 10 million followers any day. Love you all. Now let me We do some of the flyest kicks ever – #SUPERFLYGOD.

Before joining Saucony, Westside Gunn praised the brand’s innovative launches this year, even citing New York-born designer Jae Tips and his “To Do List” collection as a major source of inspiration. Just like Tips brought his Bronx flair to the collection, Westside Gunn seems to be bringing the DNA of his Griselda brand into his projects. In addition to clips of himself poring over fabric samples, the Pray for Paris lyricist also showed off an image of what appears to be a Saucony logo, complete with the Griselda emblem.
