Vybz Kartel was sentenced to life in prison in 2014. While he was imprisoned, he proposed to Sidm Ozturk. However, now that his conviction has been overturned and he is a free man, Vybz Kartel has decided to do things the right way. On November 4, the Jamaican deejay posted a heartfelt video on Instagram. She loves it.
In the video, Vybz Kartel can be seen flashing her engagement ring to the camera before walking into her hotel room and getting down on one knee. Ozturk seemed genuinely shocked by the proposal, and the two shared some very romantic things on camera. Vybz Kartel decided to share more information about the proposal via his IG caption. “You were there when I needed you most and I would never leave you, baby,” the music icon said. “I cherish all the times you came to visit and tell me everything was going to be okay. I cherish all the times we talked on the phone and in real life in the box.”
Vybz Kartel claims his fiancée initially ‘stalked’ him
Vybz Kartel also confirmed that he has now proposed to his fiancée both in prison and in real life. “We laughed together, we cried together, and now we celebrate together,” the artist added. “You are my best friend and companion and I pray to God that as long as I live we will always be together. I love you.” Vybz Kartel and Sidem Öztürk were first linked in 2015. She is clearly determined to pursue her so-called dream man.
Öztürk provided more background in an August interview with OnStage. She claimed she was a big fan of Cartel’s music and that she found herself attracted to him. “I found him very handsome, so you could call it an obsession,” she admits. “I thought he was the most perfect person for me and the most perfect person on earth, so I really wanted to meet him and get to know him.” It turns out Ozturk’s feelings were correct. The two have been together for less than ten years and are now happily engaged.
