Tyrese’s ex-wife Norma Mitchell filed a defamation lawsuit against him in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday (May 7). According to court documents obtained by People and TMZ, Mitchell is suing the actor/singer over a series of posts he made on Instagram between April 30 and May 7.
Last month, Tyrese shared a motion he filed in family court with his Instagram followers. The “Fast and Furious” star accused his ex-wife of fraud, forgery and more in a dispute over his daughter’s tuition. Tyrese posted a Google Drive link to his court documents on social media.
“My days of suffering in silence and living in fear are over… 167 pages of documents filed in the courthouse at 111 Hill Street, Los Angeles,” he wrote on Instagram in April. “No lies and no stupid###…” Everything in these court documents is accompanied by actual receipts…Sadly it doesn’t matter when f###s### are done to the MEN.. .Blackmail, extortion, defamation, death threats, tax evasion, forged signatures, forged bank statements, domestic and international wire fraud…money laundering, all of the above. I have nothing to lose but my peace and sanity…”
Mitchell claims Tyrese defamed her and leaked private information about their daughter. She said her ex-husband used social media to “publicly litigate the issue, lashing out at Mitchell with a brutal series of derogatory and defamatory posts, including falsely accusing her of blackmail, extortion, death threats, tax evasion, forgery , bank fraud, wire transfers and other behaviors.” Fraud and money laundering. “
Tyrese’s ex-wife is seeking a court order forcing him to remove the defamatory posts. Mitchell said she was “ashamed” and worried about what his fans would do to her, as he has more than 20 million followers on Instagram.
On Thursday (May 9), Tyrese’s Instagram profile still showed the Google Drive link. He went on to encourage fans to read the book this week.
“Still living in fear of my ex [ Norma ] What new vile behavior will she say or accuse me of again in her response to my 167-page court filing? [ link in bio ],” he wrote in an article.
Tyrese said in the same article that he was “in a dark place.” He asked anyone who “really” knew him to check up on him if they could.
