Snoop Dogg has just announced that Tupac will be a playable character in Sega’s Stranger Than Heaven, which will be released on January 15, 2027.
Snoop Dogg just made one of the craziest announcements in gaming history, revealing that Tupac will be a playable character in Sega’s upcoming action game Stranger Than Heaven.
The West Coast legend took the stage at the 2026 Summer Gaming Festival on June 5 to announce the news, a move only Snoop could do.
Tupac’s character is named Amaru, which is his real middle name, and the whole thing is happening with the full support of his estate, Amaru Entertainment.
RGG Studio, the team behind the legendary Yakuza and Yakuza franchises, worked directly with Tupac’s legacy team to design the character without the use of any artificial intelligence.
They pulled every detail from archival footage and photographs to treat his legacy with the respect it deserves. Snoop explained this perfectly on stage, saying “his likeness and his spirit still live on” and it made sense to include him in the project.
This game has star power beyond that of Tupac.
Snoopy adds his son, Cordell Broadus, as a playable character. The game is described as a fifty-year action-adventure saga spanning five cities and different eras of modern Japan, beginning in 1915 with the characters caught between their American and Japanese identities.
Stranger Than Heaven will be released on January 15, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
