Back in December, The Weeknd partnered with the United Nations World Food Program to donate 4 million meals in Gaza. Today, he announced another generous donation.
The singer has also allocated $2 million from his XO Humanitarian Fund to provide Gaza with 1,500 metric tons of fortified wheat flour to be made into 18 million loaves of bread, which can help feed 157,000 Palestinians for a month. This marks The Weeknd’s total donation to Gaza to $4.5 million. He also called on fans to join him in supporting him, which they can do through the WFP here.
“We are deeply grateful for Abel’s continued support as WFP works to respond to the urgent hunger crisis in Gaza,” said Barron Segar, President and CEO of WFP USA. “Hunger is a man-made problem and therefore solvable. There is enough food in the world to feed everyone; all we need is the funding and safe passage to make it happen, and thanks to Abel’s designation, families and children will have access to them. Food is desperately needed.
